COVID-19 statement

This page is being updated regularly. Last update – 1:45pm (AEST), Monday 11 July 2022.

Hummingbird House is following Wesley Mission Queensland’s (WMQ) response to the current COVID-19 situation in Queensland. Our priority is to ensure the safety of our guests, families and team, and every decision we make is guided by this.

Hummingbird House Brisbane is currently closed to guests and families.

Hummingbird House @ Home and our Family and Community Support Services are open with a range of COVID-19 precautions in place and operating as business as usual.

Visitor rules

Hummingbird House has implemented a range of infection control procedures and restrictions across our service to minimise the spread of COVID-19. From 17 December 2021, the Queensland Government mandated that only vaccinated people are able to visit residential aged care and disability services and hospitals and hospices. Exceptions will be made for those with a recognised medical contraindication or staying/visiting the House for end of life and after death care, which will be approved by WMQ on a case-by-case basis.

While we will continue to provide services to ALL children and families, whether they are vaccinated or not, there will be some restrictions for unvaccinated parents, carers and guardians who are either accompanying a child or young person at the house or present during an appointment.

In addition to vaccine requirements, we ask that you do not enter Hummingbird House or any WMQ site if you:

  • Are suffering from flu-like symptoms or are unwell
  • Have been in contact with a case of COVID-19
  • Have been overseas in the past two weeks (you are required to be in self-isolation)
  • Have been in a COVID-19 hot spot in the past 14 days
  • Are subject to a home quarantine order or awaiting a COVID-19 test result.

Thank you for helping us ensure the safety of our guests and families.
