Shari's legacy

When Jacob lost his sister Shari, Hummingbird House gave his family the chance to say goodbye in a peaceful, meaningful way. Now, he's honouring her memory by raising funds so other families can have that same gift.

Shari Anne Rose, fundraiser eventIn 2019, Jacob’s beautiful sister Shari Anne Rose, 16, passed away due to complications from her battle with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. Shari was surrounded by her family at Queensland Children’s hospital at the time of her passing, but it caught them all by surprise and they were unable to say their goodbyes because of her condition.

Hummingbird House was offered to Shari’s family after her passing, which allowed them to properly say goodbye.

“As Shari’s brother, I cannot thank Hummingbird House enough for the service and empathy they offered us over those tough days spent in their care. It was a beautiful place to say our goodbyes, and we are forever grateful that we were offered this opportunity,” Jacob explained.

I am looking forward to supporting Hummingbird House into the future to allow them to keep providing this beautiful service, so families can spend quality time with their loved ones.

On the fifth anniversary of Shari’s passing, Jacob kickstarted his fundraising journey by creating an online fundraising page. This is Shari’s legacy, and her page has currently raised $500 for Hummingbird House.
