Widely touted as Brisbane’s #1 Middle Aged Charity Rock Covers Band, The Planktons are returning to Brisbane’s #1 live music venue – The Triffid – for another unforgettable night of nostalgic rock covers.
If you still haven’t heard of them, The Planktons made their big league debut at The Triffid in 2018 after four stellar years working the large pubs of Brisbane to sell-out audiences raising tens of thousands of dollars for some great causes. The Planktons have gained a reputation as a covers act like no other and have grown a dedicated and swelling fan base thanks primarily to their nostalgic set list, twin vocal attack, air-tight rhythm section and thumping guitar sound.
There has never been a night of covers music to rival this bill. Devotees of Aussie music will feast on Planktons tributes to The Sunnyboys, Hoodoo Gurus, Rat Cat, INXS, AC/DC, Mondo Rock, Spiderbait, and even The Riptides. Great bands from abroad are not ignored either with cracking renditions of hits from The Only Ones, The Strokes, James, Green Day, Nirvana, The Cure, The Cult, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Hole, The Pixies, Johnny Cash, Violent Femmes, Nirvana and even Martha and her Muffins. In 2019 there will also be a few surprises paying respect to some great new Aussie artists.
Even better than the music however is the cause. All proceeds from The Planktons ticket sales go to charity and in 2019, the headline charity will be Hummingbird House Foundation. The Triffid very generously support this event and it promises to be an evening chock filled with entertainment and value. So book the babysitter, dust off your best rock n roll threads and come join the fun. Tickets are available from Oztix and you can find out more about The Planktons at www.theplanktons.com.
